Away For The Weekend

Photobucket

Ah I love summer holidays! I'll be away all weekend for a friend's birthday, so unfortunately there will be no blogging for me. I'll be back by Sunday so drop on by then for new posts... Have a lovely weekend!

Blowing Kisses

Although not everyone is a fan (see Perez Hilton), I'm quite partial to a bit of Kirsten Dunst. Probably because of Marie Antoinette and The Virgin Suicides. I wish I owned a copy of the Lula that she guest edited. What a dream. Maybe I can scavenge one on eBay.

You Make Me Feel Like Dancing

I was trying to delete files from my computer (it is so full!) and I found this gem of a photo that my friend Mia sent me once upon a time. Hot. Thanks Miss Mia.

I love everything about Across The Universe. To be more specific I'll put my film student hat on and say...

I love the interpretations of The Beatles' songs, how they are used to tell the story in a way that isn't overly forced, and how the film creates a new meaning for them. I love the imagery, the colour, the psychedelic effects, the composition and deliberate framing that plays in such a choreographed musical way. I love how creative the film is and how it experiments with the image to maintain a sense of meaning in the songs. And I love that the story and how it encapsulates all of the typical 60's themes of war, politics, drugs, and hippie counterculture.

It's definitely not everyone's cup of tea, but I think it is amazing.

Tonight I was inspired by the Cherry Blossom Girl and The Selby to take photos of my room. It was sort of fun to take photos of all of my stuff. My house is yet to be renovated (despite the constant promises) so my things are always all out everywhere anyway as I have no storage!

Anyway, I took photos on my digital camera and put them through this nifty program that my friend Dee of Delightful told me about called Poladroid. It makes your photos look like polaroids and you get to shake them and everything! So much fun to play with.

Cupcake Party

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I discovered Fantastic Toys awhile ago when on one of my etsy binges and thought the retro, handmade toys were pretty cute. Then I forgot about them for awhile until Sticky Kitten posted on them a few days ago. I'd contemplated a baby pink deer during my first encounter with the toys, but now there are cupcakes!

They are so adorable! I wanted to buy them for my boyfriend's neice for christmas or my room, but Tim (the extraordinarily talented creator of the toys) isn't sellling them at his etsy store but has posted the design templates on his Fantastic Toys blog and is encouraging people to make their own decorated cupcakes and upload photos to a special flickr account that he has created for the Cupcake Party!

Rad. Except I've never sewed anything ever. Still I'm determined to have cute toy cupcakes even if I have to make them myself!
