I love seeing how other people decorate and organise their houses. Especially now that my bedroom is being renovated and i'm trying to work out how I want it to look. So these are some of my favourite photos from The Selby. Inspiration.

I've Got The Music In Me

I haven't written a music post for ages, so I thought I should perhaps share some of my love for a few of my favourite bands at the moment.

Sherlock's Daughter

Although these guys don't have an album out yet, I'm already in love. I saw them play when they were supporting Tame Impala and was instantly drawn to their tambourine shaking, hand clapping and layered harmonies.

The lead singer reminds me of Natasha Khan of Bat For Lashes, and if I recall correctly, she played the guitar and swapped around with her band members to some other instruments. I'm looking forward to them releasing an album as their record label status is currently "Processing..."

You can check them out at www.myspace.com/sherlocksdaughter
or see video's from their live shows here.

Amazing Baby

I can't believe I haven't posted about Amazing Baby before. Since I first discovered them by way of MGMT, they have accumulated a fair bit of 'hype' which I think can actually end up being bad for bands as they become overexposed and overhyped. And then the backlash begins because they "aren't that good" and now "everyone likes them."

Anyway, I'm going to do my bit in adding to the hype surrounding Amazing Baby, because they probably do deserve it. Like MGMT these guys have a psych-pop-rock sound, but in a different ratio. More rock, less pop. Still awesome. You used to be able to download their EP Infinite Fucking Cross on their site, but I think it may be removed now.
Still you can hear them at http://www.myspace.com/theamazingbaby

Blitzen Trapper

Although their latest album Furr came out last year, I've only just started listening to it. Their sound jumps around a bit from folk to country and rock. Very 70's, and of course comparisons to Dylan, Neil Young and The Beatles abound if you read the reviews. No matter what the influence, their songs are infectious. And there is harmonica playing! Bomb.

You can check them out, at http://www.myspace.com/blitzentrapper
Girls

These guys don't have an album out yet either, but I'm definitely looking forward to it, because their myspace songs show their talent. I think they were featured in Russh a few issues ago actually. Dreamy, lo-fi, acoustic, 60's pop. These are the words that come to me when I think of Girls. Also that they will grow on you. Well that's what happened to me with their hopeful/depressing 'Hellhole Ratrace'. Now I love it!

"I don't wanna cry my whole life through, yeah I wanna do some laughing to, come on and laugh with me. I don't want to die without shaking up a thing or two, yeah I wanna do some dancing too, so come on and dance with me"

Daisy Chain

Image and video hosting by TinyPicImage and video hosting by TinyPic

All of a sudden I really like daisies. Don't know why? Maybe it's the subliminal brainwashing of my desktop backgroup (a collage from Russh magazine showing many a daisy amongst the 60's imagery). Or maybe it's since I impulse bought my daisy necklace.

Anyway, I think I like Peaches Geldof's daisy chain tattoo. Am I losing my mind? I wouldn't ever want a tattoo that big but a small daisy chain could be cute.

Maybe it's a bit early to get my new love of daisies inked onto my body. A Dior ring could be less permanent and painful!

She's Like A Rainbow

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Georgia May Jagger. Look at those lips! Not hard to guess who her father is.

She's only 16 but is already starting to pop up in magazines. Another Rock Star model spawn.

I think she's prettier than her mother and sister, Lizzie, but apparently she is relatively short.

I hope she doesn't become famous for doing nothing and then turn into an annoyingly overexposed "It Girl." But I can completely see that happening!

Textured Wedge

I was browsing around on Net-A-Porter the other day, trying to decide what I would buy if K-Rudd accidentally added an extra zero to my economic stimulus payment. Finally, I decided on these Fendi boots.

I've been looking for suede wedge heels for awhile, and I'm a bit of a sucker for shoes made of multiple materials. These ones have suede, mesh and patent. Killer.

Simply Anna

As you may know by now, I absolutely adore Anna Karina and Marianne Faithfull. So I became particularly excited when I found that they both starred in a 1967 French TV movie called 'Anna'.

I dare you to watch the trailer and not crack a smile. 'Anna' is colourful, crazy and a musical with bizarre nouvelle vague influences and at least a touch of insanity. All in all a vintage gem.

If you are like me, and have an interest in French cinema and the 60's, it is probably worth checking out!

Did I mention that the film was scored by Serge Gainsbourg and Marianne sings? Too good.

A Meshy Mystery

I hadn't checked the Cobrasnake in awhile and was pleasantly surprised to see some pretty good photos that he took at an unnamed fashion show.

I'm loving the Balmain and Rodarte inspired pieces and the collection of boots! I just wish I knew what label the show was for. Mark Hunter and his ridiculous titles. If anyone does know please tell me!

Damn, that grey mesh and velvet dress with pointy shoulders is amazing.

Also, a while ago I posted some photos of a floral and mesh dress that I thought must have been vintage, but a couple of girls at this anonymous fashion show appeared to be wearing mesh dresses in the same cut so I guess that these dresses are currently on sale. But where, and by whom? Hmmmm.

So many mysteries!

UPDATE: After a bit more trolling on the internets I've discovered that the show was Brian Lichtenberg's F/W09 collection, and that the mesh dresses are versions of his Freakum Dress. I want one badly!

Before Kate and Johnny...

There was Mick and Marianne. They were the couple of the sixties. Totally killing it together. Unfortunately it ended pretty badly with Marianne living on the streets as a heroin addict. So intense! But she sorted herself out and made an amazing comeback.

Their story seems like a tragic, doomed Romeo and Juliet style love. They were hot, rich and young and could do whatever they wanted, but it was never going to work out well. Towards the end of the sixties Marianne suffered a miscarriage and her drug use became more like abuse. Her and Mick were over by the seventies.

Marianne inspired a number of the Stones songs, the best of which is definitely Wild Horses. As the legend goes, Marianne awoke from a six day comma caused by an overdose of sleeping pills and found Mick and Keith at her bedside. When they told her that they thought they had lost her she said, "Wild horses couldn't drag me away."

Apparently this may not have actually happened, but I prefer to believe it did. Wild Horses is such a beautiful, sad song that says a lot about how Mick felt towards the end of their relationship.

I just finished reading Marianne's second biography, which touches on her relationship with Mick briefly, and am dying to get my hands on Faithfull, her first biography that reveals all of the details of her amazing life.

"Childhood living is easy to do
The things you wanted I bought them for you
Graceless lady you know who I am
You know I can't let you slide through my hands

Wild horses couldn't drag me away
Wild, wild horses, couldn't drag me away

I watched you suffer a dull aching pain
Now you decided to show me the same
No sweeping exits or offstage lines
Could make me feel bitter or treat you unkind

Wild horses couldn't drag me away
Wild, wild horses, couldn't drag me away

I know I dreamed you a sin and a lie
I have my freedom but I dont have much time
Faith has been broken, tears must be cried
Let's do some living after we die

Wild horses couldn't drag me away
Wild, wild horses, well ride them some day

Wild horses couldn't drag me away
Wild, wild horses, well ride them some day"

Steal My Love

Although I said that I was back from my hiatus I somehow got distracted again. But... in the meantime my friends and I have been working on getting an eBay store up and running.

Steal My Love is now open for business! We also have a personal photo blog that links in with the store. You can visit the blog here if you are interested.

And of course there are more tie dye leggings.

The shop has also been featured on another blog, No Money, No Remote, and it is only a day and a half old! Very exciting!
